Time for rank and file Upstate Assembly Democrats to join
Senate colleagues and deliver property tax relief
Statement from Assemblyman Jim Tedisco
(R,C,I-Schenectady-Saratoga)
“The overwhelmingly bi-partisan support given by the New York State Senate to the property tax cap shows this legislation has real legs and deserves to be debated and voted on in the Assembly.”
“New York consistently ranks among the highest in the entire nation for its property tax burden. Virtually everyone agrees that the tax cap is a good idea except the New York City-run Assembly Majority Conference If Senate Democrats can stand with Senate Republicans in support of a tax cap then why can’t the Assembly Democrats allow a tax cap to come to the Floor for a vote?”
“It’s time for Upstate and Long Island Assembly Democrats whose districts are most impacted by high property taxes to demand that tax cap legislation move forward just like it has in the Senate.”
“With virtually full support from the Assembly Republican Conference, the tax cap would only need about a third of the Assembly Democrat Conference to become law. It’s time for the Assembly Democrats to stop the political walk and start the public service talk.”
“Real reform will come when rank and file legislators rise up and retake the Legislature from the clutches of the Tri-ocracy. It can begin with Upstate Assembly Democrats pushing their New York City colleagues to pass a tax cap this summer.”
